Taking Stock

I've been blogging about a month now, and I figure it's time to take stock in what I'm doing, whether I'm reaching the people I want to reach, and if so, whether I'm writing what you like to read. So, starting with the first issue, I tinkered a bit with the tag line under my blog title so it better reflects where I want to go in my writing topics. I added the phrase "what's going on in the world" to reflect a lifelong interest of mine. Let me tell you why...

While a senior in high school I submitted an essay to a contest sponsored by the Michigan State Bar association stating my opinions and suggestions on current affairs. I won a second place award. Six years later, my husband and I moved with his job to a small town whose local newspaper carried no national news. I felt lost, isolated, adrift at sea---unaware of what was going on in my nation and the world. This self-discovery confirmed an interest that has been with me ever since--long before I began writing. So you can expect from me in the future a number of pieces on items in the news or under general public discussion.

Now about you---I'd like to know who you are and how many of you, my friends and acquaintances, have picked up my invitation to follow my blog, plus any additions. Please take the time to let me know--
1. who you are,
2. whether you click in on my blog regularly or just on occasion,
3. which kinds of pieces you like and are enjoying the most or whether you just like the mix, and
4. what you would like me to write about (one or more specific issues).

You can reach me quickly and conveniently by clicking on the Comment below this post or by clicking directly on my e-mail or Facebook address on the sidebar on the right side of this blog. I've found this latter method doesn't work for everybody, so you may have to respond through my regular e-mail address.

Lastly, I am hoping to make this blog more interactive, but I'm still looking for an easy way to accomplish that. In the meantime, feel free to comment or criticize any topic on my blog. I'll share any of these that I think will be of mutual interest. (That's another reason I need to know who you are.)

Oh, about the Monet "Waterlilies" painting above. Isn't it gorgeous? The French Impressionists' paintings are my favorites. I hope to add photos to accompany my posts from time to time, as I find something suitable. Or just to add interest. There is so much beauty in God's wonderful world; is there not?

Hoping to hear from you,
Your religious blogger Margaret
